CANCOM: Klaus Weinmann hands over the role of CEO to Thomas Volk

Munich, Germany, 28 August 2018 – Klaus Weinmann, who as company founder and long-standing CEO has led the CANCOM Group for more than 25 years, has decided to resign from his position in the Management Board as of 30 September 2018. Therefore he has asked the Supervisory Board to terminate his contract prematurely. At the same time, Mr. Weinmann proposed Thomas Volk, President & General Manager of CANCOM SE, as his successor to the Supervisory Board. Since Mr. Weinmann wishes to continue to support the CANCOM Group, Mr. Weinmann also informed the Supervisory Board that he is seeking a seat on the Supervisory Board as soon as possible.

The Supervisory Board of CANCOM SE approved the premature termination of Mr. Weinmann’s contract. In addition, the Supervisory Board decided today to appoint Thomas Volk as successor to the position of CEO of CANCOM SE for a term of five years.

“I need not emphasize that CANCOM is very important to me. But the growth of the PRIMEPULSE Group and the increasing tasks that this entails for me will no longer allow for a dual function as a member of the Management Board in the future. Thomas Volk is an excellent successor to whom I can entrust my CANCOM with peace of mind. I am very pleased that the Supervisory Board unanimously supports this,” said Klaus Weinmann, CEO of CANCOM SE. “However, I would like to continue supporting the transformation of the CANCOM Group in the direction of the Cloud and Managed Services business. I will therefore ask the shareholders to allow me to join the Supervisory Board,” said Weinmann.

“The Supervisory Board acknowledges that Mr. Weinmann has set new priorities with the pleasing development of the PRIMEPULSE Group. This inevitably leads to his resignation from his role as CEO of CANCOM SE, which he himself founded more than 25 years ago and to which he remains associated as the largest shareholder. It is difficult to acknowledge 25 years of successful corporate management in a nutshell, so the Supervisory Board would simply like to thank Mr. Weinmann warmly for his outstanding performance and great commitment. The Supervisory Board has found an excellent successor in Mr. Volk, who has been a member of the Management Board of CANCOM SE for almost a year and has contributed to the further development of the business. This means that customers, partners, investors and employees can expect CANCOM’s success to continue,” said Dr. Lothar Koniarski, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of CANCOM SE.

“I am pleased that the Supervisory Board has placed its trust in me. As the new CEO, I will continue CANCOM’s course as a system house and as a priority expand the development of the Cloud Solutions business internationally. This ensures the long-term profitability of the company and customers are optimally supported in the course of their own digitization,” said Thomas Volk, President & General Manager of CANCOM SE.

Thomas Volk has been President & General Manager and a member of the Management Board of CANCOM SE since 1 November 2017. Mr. Volk is already responsible for the Group’s go-to-market strategy and essentially for marketing, sales, consulting and international business. Thomas Volk has many years of international experience and success as CEO and General Manager of various global players as well as medium-sized companies in the IT industry. He also has extensive expertise in growth and transformation processes. In addition, he led and accompanied numerous M&A transactions and integrations, most recently the two acquisitions of the CANCOM Group in the United Kingdom. Mr. Volk will now also be responsible for the overall strategy of the CANCOM Group.
